This kid of mine is something else! He has made so many friends and brightened so many people's day up here. I feel so blessed to be able to watch how he interacts with people and genuinely leaves lasting impressions. Today one of the doctors whispered in his ear that he is her favorite patient and she bought him a gift as well. She gave him a frog flashlight that hangs on his carabiner (just like the one the anesthesiologist gave him). Gina, one of the charge nurses, gave him a key chain that said 'HERO' on it. Monica, the nurse's boss, gave him chap stick and a holder for his name tag just like the nurses wear. Elizabeth, from Child Life, brought him a set of animal socks that double as puppets. He even asked one of the nurses for a yellow suit that they wear for contamination rooms and, of course, she gave him one! It's amazing to me how caring and thoughtful so many people have been to him. As if he isn't spoiled enough at home, haha.
He took the final dose of his last antibiotic today. So now he only takes his seizure medication and the vitamin Zinc. We are finally using his Peristeen enema system nightly again. It makes him feel so much better and I'm not having to change dirty diapers 15 times a day, or worry about what kind of medicine I need to give him to help his bowels. It's funny how so many doctors and nurses have never heard of something so wonderfully life changing. I am having to show and explain it to everyone on this floor.
